Strasbourg

Hello! Long time no speak. The past month has been pretty hectic with exams and such so I haven't really had the time to blog. Also on the 15th of December I went with my class to Strasbourg for a week. Considering I already live in France we went by bus overnight, what was a nightmare as Monday morning everyone just wanted to go to bed. But after a good nights sleep it turned out to be really fun.

Monday morning we went to The Tomi Ungerer Museum International illustration centre, what had some... interesting stuff... Then in the afternoon we walked around La Petite France what was super cute and looked like somewhere from a disney movie.

On Tuesday, we visited the European Parliament, besides my lack of interest for politics, the architecture was really interesting and at least now I can say I've been there. We spent the rest of the day walking around the city and shopping! Which is always fun.

Wednesday morning we went to the Museum of Fine Arts, as a class of art students we were given a tour with an extremely detailed explanation of the paintings, which was interesting until you want to fall asleep after not sleeping all night. The afternoon we once again just walked around and we found a bubble tea shop what was exciting. I had a green tea with lychee and cherry flavoured bubbles. It tasted amazing, I wish I had a place like that near me.

On Thursday we drove up to Struthof, an old concentration camp from 1941. It was really a real eye opening experience as you don't quite realise how horrible and terrifying it must have been during the war. It still shocks me that someone would create something like these camps. As the camp is up in the mountains it was freezing, god knows what it was like for the people there during the war. We also visited the Le Mémorial de l'Alsace-Moselle, It was really well put together and wasn't like a usual museum as they literally put you into setting with the decor.

Friday was our last day, we went to a planetarium, what is always fun and I love all things to do with astronomy so it was really interesting. In the afternoon we went to the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. I think this museum was my favourite place we went to out of the whole week. Even though I do wonder how some of it made it into a museum, there was lots of pieces that were really amazing like things by Magritte and Picasso. Friday evening we went to a restaurant and had these pizza like things called Flammekueche, It basically was like pizza with a different type of dough, but it was pretty good. Then at 9pm we set off back home for our overnight 12 hour drive.

So there you go. That's what I did this week. I really enjoyed seeing a new part of France and all the decorations really make it feel more like Christmas. I highly recommend going there next year for the holidays as it is like a real life disneyland!

I hope you all have a nice Christmas and I will try and update more often!
